Privacy
This website is written and run by one person. It is a collection of free notes and a shelf of small tools that run inside your browser. This page says plainly what happens to information when you read a page, use a tool, or sign in.
Nothing here follows you around. No advertising network, no analytics product, and no tracking script runs on these pages. Fonts and scripts are served from this site rather than from an outside provider, so opening a page does not announce your visit to anyone else.
What Stays in Your Browser
Most of what this site remembers never leaves your computer. It sits in your browser’s local storage, and the server never receives it.
- The last three pages you read, and how far you scrolled, so the home page can offer to continue where you left off.
- Your theme and palette choice, and whether reading mode is on.
- Everything the tools hold. The chess tools keep your game files, the engine’s notes on them, and your practice record. Other tools keep their drafts and settings the same way.
Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it.
Pages You Read
Each page is counted once per browser tab session, and the count is a number and nothing else. No account identifier and no raw network address is stored beside it. The totals shown on the dashboard come from those counts. A daily token derived from the network address is held briefly on the server so that one visitor cannot inflate the numbers, and it cannot be read back as an address.
Optional Account
Reading anything here never requires an account. Three tools offer one, because they keep your work on more than one device. Those are Chess Tournament, Game Review, and Short Links.
Signing in goes through Google or GitHub, so this site never sees your password. What it holds under your account is a display handle you choose, your preferences and reading position, and whatever the tool you used stores, such as chess progress, saved reviews, or the short links you made. Your email address stays with the sign-in provider and is used for one purpose, which is to warn you before an inactive account is deleted.
An account that goes 24 months without a visit is deleted, after a warning at 23 months. Everything stored under it goes with it.
Tools
The tools do their work in your browser. A few send something, and each one says so where you start it.
- Pastebin and Clipboard Sync put what you type into a room in this site’s database so another device can read it. Stale rooms are cleaned up hourly.
- Game Review can fetch your recent games from chess.com or lichess.org. That sends your username and the number of games you asked for, and nothing else.
- Sharing a review, or making a short link, stores that one item in the database until you revoke it.
Hosting
Pages are served by Cloudflare Pages, which handles the request and keeps ordinary server logs such as network address and browser type, under Cloudflare’s own privacy terms. Sign-in and the shared data above run on Firebase, operated by Google, under Google’s terms.
Personal Google Drive Client
The owner of this site runs a private OAuth client named “rclone backup” that copies his own computer to his own Google Drive. It reads and writes only the owner’s Drive. It is not offered to readers, it touches no data belonging to anyone else, and nothing from this website is sent to it.
Removing Your Data
- Browser storage: clear site data in your browser, or press the reset button the tool provides.
- Account data: “Forget everything” inside a tool clears what that tool stored. To remove the account itself, ask through the contact below, or leave it idle and it is deleted after 24 months.
- Comments: delete them in the GitHub Discussion they live in.
- Shared links: revoke them in the tool that made them.
